Mochi (rice cakes) is something we have eaten around New Year's since ancient times. It is also a traditional Japanese food.
In some areas, people get together to make mochi. With the changing times, there are more and more variations in the way we eat.
When I was in elementary school, I remember getting together with the local government and eating rice cakes made by the adults together. I felt special about mochi because it was the only food that many people ate during this time of the year.
・In this time, I will introduce the food.
You will need a bowl and colander, plus a mixer and a microwave oven.
To make race cake, prepare 2 cups of mochi rice, 160 cc of water, and appropriate amount of flour as ingredients.
・To make rice cakes, the following steps must be completed.
1. Soak glutinous rice in water for 30 minutes
2. Transfer the glutinous rice to a colander and let stand for 5 minutes.
3. Put glutinous rice and water in a blender and stir until sludgy.
4. Transfer to a bowl and microwave until dough puffs up.
5. Heat again, stirring with a spatula to ensure even heat distribution.
6. Spread potato starch on the bottom and roll out the race cake on it.
7. Roll it up to the size you want.
When eating mochi, it is better to eat it with nori and soy sauce, kinako (soybean flour), or anko (red bean paste).
・In conclusion, Rice cakes, which has been eaten in Japan for centuries, can be applied in a variety of forms, not just the standard type as shown here.
Please enjoy your favorite type of rice cakes. The possibilities are endless. My recommendation is to eat it with soybean flour.
